Primabolics Range Guide: Iso-Ripped, WheyPro and More

Table of Contents

The Primabolics range in Australia is best known for two protein powders, Iso-Ripped and WheyPro, but it also covers creatine, a caffeine-free pre-workout, a collagen protein water and a handful of everyday health products. For most people, the place to start is Iso-Ripped if you want a lean isolate, or WheyPro if you want better value per serve, with Purest Creatine as an easy add-on. Iso-Ripped has been our best-selling Primabolics product over the last six months.

Primabolics is an Australian brand, and labels such as Grind Non-Stim and Magnesium Bi-Glycinate say Australian owned and manufactured. Here is what each product is for, with the key numbers from the label.

Iso-Ripped vs WheyPro: which Primabolics protein?

Both give 23 to 25 g of protein per 30 g scoop, which sits in the 20 to 40 g per serve range the ISSN suggests for people who train. Both are sweetened with stevia, and the current labels list DigeZyme digestive enzymes and Irish sea moss. The main differences are the type of protein and the cost per serve.

    Iso-Ripped: the lean isolate

Iso-Ripped uses whey protein isolate only, in instantised and hydrolysed forms. On the current V2 label, each 30 g scoop gives 25 g of protein, 2.1 g of carbs and 0.8 g of fat. Isolate is lower in lactose than concentrate, so it can sit better with people who get bloated on regular whey, but it is not labelled lactose free. The 1.65 kg tub works out at about $3.82 per serve. Read our Iso-Ripped guide for the full label breakdown.

    WheyPro: the multi-stage blend

WheyPro mixes hydrolysed whey isolate, whey concentrate, added BCAAs and Peptinex grass-fed collagen. The Choc Malt label lists 23 g of protein, 2.7 g of carbs and 3,013 mg of leucine per 30 g scoop. Because it includes concentrate, it costs less: about $2.91 per serve in the 1.65 kg bag. Our WheyPro guide covers the flavours and serve sizes.

For muscle building, both work when your training and total daily protein are right. The ISSN suggests 1.4 to 2.0 g of protein per kg of body weight a day for most people who exercise, and a shake simply helps you get there.

    Purest Creatine and Grind Non-Stim

Purest Creatine is plain creatine monohydrate: 5 g per scoop, unflavoured, with about 100 serves in the 500 g tub. That is about $0.70 per serve. The ISSN position stand found creatine monohydrate supports strength, power and lean mass gains when combined with training, at about 3 to 5 g a day.

Grind Non-Stim is a caffeine-free pre-workout. A full 2-scoop serve gives 6 g of citrulline malate, 5 g of creatine monohydrate, 3.2 g of beta-alanine, 2 g of betaine and 500 mg of potassium nitrate. The Australian Institute of Sport notes that only a few supplements, including caffeine, creatine, buffering agents such as beta-alanine and nitrate, have good evidence of benefit. Grind also contains huperzine A, a plant extract used in focus formulas, so if you take medication, are pregnant or have a medical condition, check with your GP before using it.

One tip: a full serve of Grind already gives you 5 g of creatine, so on training days you do not need Purest Creatine as well. Compare more options in our best creatine guide.

The everyday range: collagen, gut health and magnesium

    • Collagen Complete Protein Water mixes thin with water into a juice-style drink, and is labelled dairy free, with added vitamin C and electrolytes. It is not a straight swap for whey, so check the panel on your pack for protein per serve.
    • Everyday Gut Health is a daily powder with 10 billion CFU from four probiotic strains, 3.08 g of fibre from six fibre sources, 3,500 mg of collagen and 3,000 mg of glutamine per 2-scoop serve. The AIS lists probiotics in Group B, meaning the evidence is emerging or mixed.
    • Magnesium Bi-Glycinate comes as 60 capsules with nothing to mix. Australian adults need 310 to 420 mg of magnesium a day from all sources, and the upper level for magnesium from supplements is 350 mg a day, so add up the magnesium across all your products.

Which Primabolics product should you choose?

    • Leanest shake, or regular whey makes you bloated: Iso-Ripped (it still contains milk).
    • Best value per serve: WheyPro 1.65 kg.
    • Easy add-on for strength: Purest Creatine.
    • Training late or avoiding caffeine: Grind Non-Stim, but skip separate creatine on the days you use it.
    • Light drink instead of a thick shake: Collagen Complete.

    FAQs

What is the difference between Iso-Ripped and WheyPro?

Iso-Ripped uses whey protein isolate only and gives 25 g of protein per 30 g scoop on the V2 label, with very little carbs or fat. WheyPro blends hydrolysed whey isolate, whey concentrate, added BCAAs and collagen, and gives 23 g of protein per 30 g scoop on the Choc Malt label. Iso-Ripped is leaner and lower in lactose, while WheyPro costs less per serve. Both work for building muscle.

    Is Primabolics Iso-Ripped lactose free?

It is not labelled lactose free. Iso-Ripped is a whey protein isolate, which is filtered to remove most of the lactose, so many people who feel bloated on regular whey handle it better. The V2 label also lists a digestive enzyme blend that includes lactase. If you have a diagnosed lactose intolerance or a milk allergy, check the label and speak with your GP or dietitian before using any whey protein.

Does Grind Non-Stim have creatine in it?

Yes. A full 2-scoop serve of Grind Non-Stim lists 5 g of creatine monohydrate, along with 6 g of citrulline malate and 3.2 g of beta-alanine. That is the same amount of creatine as one scoop of Purest Creatine, so on the days you use a full serve of Grind you do not need a separate creatine. On rest days, a plain creatine keeps your daily intake steady.

    Is Primabolics an Australian brand?

Yes. Primabolics is an Australian brand, and its labels, such as Grind Non-Stim and Magnesium Bi-Glycinate, state the products are Australian owned and manufactured. You can find the range online at Supps247 and in our 18 stores (17 in Victoria and 1 in Queensland at Richlands). Online orders ship Australia-wide, and click and collect is available at stores that offer it.

Which Primabolics protein is best for weight loss?

No protein powder causes weight loss on its own. Iso-Ripped is the leaner choice, with 25 g of protein and only 2.1 g of carbs and 0.8 g of fat per scoop, so it fits easily into a lower-kilojoule diet. Protein can help you feel full and keep muscle while you eat less, but your total intake and training decide the result. See our cutting diet plan for a simple place to start.
