What is in WheyPro
The front of the tub sums it up as a "multi-stage protein blend: HWPI + WPC + BCAAs + collagen". In plain terms:
- Hydrolysed whey protein isolate (HWPI) and whey protein concentrate (WPC): the main protein sources, both made from milk. Our guide to whey isolate vs whey blend explains how the two differ.
- Added BCAAs and Peptinex grass-fed collagen: the label notes that its amino acid profile comes from whey protein and hydrolysed bovine collagen. Each scoop lists 3,013 mg of leucine.
- Extras: DigeZyme digestive enzymes, Irish sea moss (Primabolics says it provides 92 trace minerals) and stevia. The tub also says it has zero thickeners, fillers or gums. These are the brand's claims.
How does one scoop stack up? The International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) position stand on protein says most exercising people do well on 1.4 to 2.0 g of protein per kg of body weight a day, with about 20 to 40 g of high-quality protein per serve, and that each serve should aim for 700 to 3,000 mg of leucine. WheyPro's 23 g of protein sits inside the per-serve range, and its 3,013 mg of leucine is right at the top of the leucine range. The ISSN also says supplements are a practical way to get enough protein, especially for people training hard.
On the collagen part of the blend, the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) places collagen in Group B of its sports supplement framework, which means emerging scientific support that deserves further research.
Who it suits
- People who train and want an easy way to top up protein after a session or between meals.
- Anyone who likes dessert-style flavours. We list 10, from Choc Malt to Vanilla Cake Frosting.
- People who want a whey blend with collagen and added BCAAs rather than a straight isolate.
Who should check first
- Milk allergy: WheyPro contains milk, so it is not suitable.
- Other allergies: the label says it may contain gluten, peanut, sulphites, tree nuts, egg, soy and seeds.
- Children under 15 and pregnant women: the label says it is not suitable for them, and that it should only be used under medical or dietetic supervision.
- Kidney disease or other medical conditions: check with your doctor before adding more protein to your diet.
- Vegetarians and vegans: it contains milk and bovine collagen.
- If dairy does not sit well with you: WheyPro includes whey concentrate as well as isolate, so compare it with a pure isolate before you buy.
- Drug-tested athletes: check Sport Integrity Australia guidance and the HASTA and Informed Sport databases yourself, and read our guide to supplements for drug-tested athletes.
How to use WheyPro
Primabolics' directions are simple: mix 1 scoop (30 g) with 200 to 300 mL of cold water and shake well. WheyPro is a formulated supplementary sports food, so it is not a sole source of nutrition. Use it with a nutritious diet and an appropriate training program.
For timing, the ISSN suggests spreading protein doses evenly across the day, every 3 to 4 hours. A shake after training or between meals is an easy way to do that. To set your daily target, read our guide to how much protein you need per day.
How it compares
- Primabolics Iso-Ripped is whey isolate only (instantised and hydrolysed whey isolate), with no concentrate or collagen. Primabolics lists 25 g of protein per 30 g scoop on the V2 label, in the same 750 g and 1.65 kg sizes.
- Legit Whey Isolate is a straight whey protein isolate. Legit says each serve gives 25 g of protein, with 28 serves in a 910 g tub.

Primabolics WheyPro review: our verdict
WheyPro is a solid everyday whey blend for people who want plenty of flavour choice and a lot of leucine per scoop. Each 30 g serve of Choc Malt gives 23 g of protein and just over 3 g of leucine, and the ten dessert-style flavours are a genuine highlight. The trade-off is that it mixes concentrate with isolate and adds bovine collagen, so it is not the leanest or most dairy-friendly option, and the label lists several may-contain allergens. If you want a pure isolate from the same brand, Iso-Ripped gives 25 g of protein per scoop with no concentrate or collagen.
FAQs
How much protein is in a scoop of WheyPro?
About 23 g. The Choc Malt label lists 23 g of protein per 30 g scoop (76.8 g per 100 g), and Primabolics' 1.65 kg page lists 23.1 g. Figures vary slightly between flavours, so check your tub.
Is WheyPro a whey isolate?
No. It is a blend of hydrolysed whey isolate, whey concentrate, added BCAAs and collagen. If you want isolate only, look at Iso-Ripped from the same brand.
Is WheyPro good for beginners?
It is easy to use: one 30 g scoop shaken with water. Beginners should first work out their daily protein target, then decide whether a shake is the easiest way to reach it.
Can women take WheyPro?
Yes. Protein needs depend on body weight and training, and the ISSN range of 1.4 to 2.0 g per kg a day applies to exercising people in general. The label says it is not suitable for pregnant women.
When should I take WheyPro?
Whenever it helps you reach your daily protein, such as after training or between meals. The ISSN suggests spreading protein doses every 3 to 4 hours across the day.
Is WheyPro gluten free?
It is not labelled gluten free. The allergen statement says it may contain gluten, so it may not suit people who need to avoid gluten.
