Best Collagen Supplements in Australia
Collagen powders range from small unflavoured scoops you stir into coffee to full protein shakes. This page lists our top collagen supplement picks at Supps247, starting from the collagen products our customers buy most in our stores and online. We then checked each label for collagen or protein per serve, scoop size, collagen source and types, and anything else added. Every pick here is a collagen powder; we left out capsules, joint blends and other products where collagen is not the main ingredient. Updated October 2026.

1. R1 Collagen Peptides by Rule One: best overall
R1 Collagen Peptides is the collagen our customers buy most. Each serve gives 10 g of hydrolysed bovine collagen with added vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, and it comes in unflavoured and flavoured versions, so it suits both coffee stirrers and people who want a ready-flavoured drink. The 50 serve unflavoured tub is one of the lower-cost ways to get 10 g of collagen a day in our range.
- Collagen: 10 g hydrolysed bovine collagen per serve
- Hyaluronic acid: 80 mg per serve
- Vitamin C: 100% of the US Daily Value per serve
- Sizes at Supps247: 20, 25 and 50 serves
- Flavoured versions are sweetened with stevia
Worth knowing: 10 g of collagen adds a modest amount of protein, so it is not a replacement for a full protein shake. It is bovine-derived, so it does not suit vegetarians or vegans.

2. Rapid Total Collagen Peptides: best value
Rapid Total combines two branded collagens: Peptinex hydrolysed bovine collagen and Naticol hydrolysed marine collagen. Together they provide types I, II and III collagen, and Rapid adds L-tryptophan, the amino acid collagen naturally lacks. It is unflavoured with no sweeteners, and its small serve means a 500 g bag goes a long way, which makes it the cheapest pick per serve on this page.
- Per serve: 4.9 g bovine collagen, 2.5 g marine collagen and 100 mg L-tryptophan
- Protein: 7.3 g per 7.5 g serve
- Serves: 33 per 250 g bag, 66 per 500 g bag (brand listing)
- Ingredients: hydrolysed bovine collagen (Peptinex), hydrolysed marine collagen (Naticol), L-tryptophan
Worth knowing: it contains fish, and it is made in a facility that also processes milk, egg, gluten, soy, tree nuts, seeds, lupin and sulphites. The 7.5 g serve gives less collagen per scoop than most picks here.

3. Welltech Nutrition Complete Collagen: best collagen protein shake
Welltech Complete Collagen is built as a full protein shake rather than a daily scoop. A heaped 25 g scoop gives 22.6 g of protein from hydrolysed beef collagen, and the brand fortifies it with leucine, tryptophan and cysteine to round out the amino acid profile. It comes in flavours like Choc Marshmallow and Pink Lemonade, plus unflavoured, and is described as lactose free.
- Serve: 1 heaped scoop (25 g)
- Protein: 22.6 g per serve (Choc Marshmallow panel)
- Sugars: 1 g per serve; fat: 0.75 g per serve
- Source: hydrolysed beef collagen, fortified with leucine, tryptophan and cysteine
- About 36 serves per 900 g tub
Worth knowing: the brand page does not list collagen types or a full ingredient list, and the nutrition figures are for Choc Marshmallow, so other flavours may differ slightly. Check the tub for sweeteners and allergens.

4. Primabolics Collagen Complete Protein Water: best light, juice-style drink
If thick shakes are not for you, this mixes into a light drink with cold water. Each serve gives 21.6 g of protein from Peptinex hydrolysed bovine collagen, plus vitamin C and a small electrolyte blend, with zero sugars on the panel. It is stevia sweetened, free of gums, and suits warm weather or a post-training drink when you want protein without the heaviness.
- Protein: 21.6 g per serve; sugars: 0 g
- Vitamin C: 80 mg per serve
- Electrolytes: sodium 139 mg per serve, plus potassium citrate (150 mg) and magnesium citrate (100 mg) as compounds
- Sizes at Supps247: 15 and 30 serves
- Sweetened with stevia
Worth knowing: the same nutrition panel is printed for every flavour, and the retailer notes values may vary slightly between flavours. The panel does not state elemental potassium or magnesium, so do not count on it as a full electrolyte drink.

5. NOWAY Collagen Protein by ATP Science: best dairy-free whey swap
NOWAY is designed as a dairy-free alternative to whey protein, made with Bodybalance collagen peptides. A heaped scoop of about 25 g gives just over 20 g of protein with very little fat, carbohydrate or sugar. It comes in Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry Milkshake and Unflavoured at Supps247, so it works as a standalone shake or stirred into food.
- Serve: 1 heaped scoop (approx. 25 g)
- Protein: 20.3 g (Strawberry Milkshake) to 20.8 g (Vanilla) per serve
- Collagen: hydrolysed type I and type III, from Bodybalance collagen peptides
- 30 serves per pack
- Sugars: 0 to 0.3 g per serve, depending on flavour
Worth knowing: collagen is not a complete protein on its own, so NOWAY works best alongside other protein foods rather than as your only protein source. The retailer page does not list sweeteners or allergens, so check the pack.

6. Rapid Pure Collagen Peptides: best bovine-only, unflavoured
Rapid Pure is the simpler sibling of Rapid Total. It uses only Peptinex hydrolysed bovine collagen, providing types I and III, with L-tryptophan added. There is no marine collagen, which suits people who avoid fish. It is unflavoured and sugar free, and the 12 g serve gives more collagen per scoop than Rapid Total.
- Serve: 12 g; protein: 11.6 g per serve
- Ingredients: hydrolysed bovine collagen (Peptinex), L-tryptophan
- Collagen types: I and III, from grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle (brand statement)
- Serves: 20 per 250 g bag, 41 per 500 g bag (brand listing)
Worth knowing: it is made in a facility that also processes milk, egg, gluten, soy, tree nuts, seeds, lupin and sulphites. As a single-source bovine collagen it does not include type II collagen.

7. R1 Multi Source Collagen by Rule One: best multi-source blend
R1 Multi Source Collagen is for people who want several collagen sources in one scoop. It combines hydrolysed bovine hide collagen, chicken bone broth protein, hydrolysed fish collagen and eggshell membrane collagen, covering types I, II, III, V and X. It also adds vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, and the label lists no other ingredients, so the unflavoured powder blends into drinks easily.
- Serve: about 1 scoop (10.5 g); 25 serves per tub
- Collagen complex: 10.2 g per serve
- Collagen types I, II, III, V and X from four sources
- Vitamin C: 90 mg; hyaluronic acid: 80 mg per serve
Worth knowing: the label states it contains fish (cod) and eggs, so it is not suitable if you are allergic to either. It is only available unflavoured.

How we chose
We started with the collagen products that sold the most units across Supps247 stores and online in the last six months, then added lower-selling options that cover a different need, such as bovine-only or multi-source. We checked collagen or protein per serve, serve size, sources and ingredients against brand labels and label panels in October 2026. Value tiers are based on price per serve at the time of writing. Brands do not pay for placement.
How to choose a collagen supplement
Know what the evidence says. The Australian Institute of Sport places collagen in Group B of its framework, meaning emerging scientific support that deserves further research. The AIS notes collagen has been studied alongside rehabilitation and strengthening programs for tendon and connective tissue, and that it should be used as an add-on to well-established training and recovery practices, not a replacement (AIS Group B supplements). For skin, a 2021 meta-analysis of 19 studies (1,125 participants, 95% women) found hydrolysed collagen improved skin hydration and elasticity compared with placebo (de Miranda and colleagues, 2021).
Compare collagen per serve, not just scoops. Serves on this page range from 7.5 g to about 25 g. The AIS suggests a minimum of around 20 g is likely optimal for increased amino acid availability around exercise, so a small daily scoop and a full collagen protein shake suit different goals.
Do not rely on collagen as your only protein. Collagen lacks the essential amino acid tryptophan, so it is classed as an incomplete protein. Research suggests collagen peptides can make up a sizeable share of daily protein while still meeting essential amino acid needs (Paul and colleagues, 2019). Some products, like Rapid Total, Rapid Pure and Welltech, add tryptophan to address this.
Check vitamin C. Your body needs vitamin C to make collagen (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements). Some powders add it, and the NIH notes fruits and vegetables are the best food sources.
Check the source for allergies and diet. Collagen is animal-derived, so none of these suit vegans. Marine and multi-source blends can contain fish or egg. If you want plant-based protein instead, see our best vegan protein powder guide, or browse the full collagen range.
If you compete in a drug-tested sport, choose batch-tested products (for example HASTA or Informed Sport certified) and check with your sport before use.
FAQs
Does collagen powder work for skin?
Some evidence suggests it may help. A 2021 meta-analysis of 19 studies found hydrolysed collagen improved skin hydration and elasticity compared with placebo, mostly in women, over about 90 days of use. Most participants were women, so the results may not apply equally to everyone, and individual products were not compared.
Can collagen replace my protein powder?
Not completely. Collagen lacks tryptophan, so it is an incomplete protein on its own. Research suggests collagen can make up a good share of your daily protein while you still meet essential amino acid needs, as long as the rest comes from varied foods. Whey or plant protein remains the better choice for a main protein shake.
What is the difference between bovine and marine collagen?
Bovine collagen comes from cattle and marine collagen comes from fish. On the labels we checked, Rapid's bovine collagen is described as types I and III, while its marine collagen is described as types I and II. The main practical difference is allergens: marine collagen contains fish, so avoid it if you are allergic.
How much collagen should I take a day?
Follow the directions on the label. Serves on this page provide between about 7 g and 22 g of collagen or protein. The AIS notes that a minimum of around 20 g is likely optimal for increased amino acid availability around exercise, and that research on optimal doses is still in its early stages.
Is collagen suitable for vegans?
No. Collagen is an animal protein, made from cattle, fish, chicken or eggshell membrane depending on the product. The AIS notes it may not be appropriate for vegetarian or vegan athletes. If you are plant-based, a pea or rice protein blend is the closer option.
Do I need vitamin C with collagen?
Your body needs vitamin C to make collagen, so getting enough matters. The NIH notes fruits and vegetables are the best sources, and most people in the United States get enough from food and drinks. R1 Collagen Peptides, R1 Multi Source Collagen and Primabolics Collagen Complete add vitamin C, so check your total intake if you also take a separate vitamin C supplement.
