GHOST Legend All Out vs R1 Pre Lift vs Axe & Sledge Intake: Best All-Rounder?

Table of Contents

For most people, Axe & Sledge Intake is the best all-rounder of the three, because you can take one scoop (150 mg caffeine) or two (300 mg) and it has the most citrulline per full serve. R1 Pre Lift suits experienced users who want 330 mg of caffeine plus focus ingredients in one scoop. GHOST Legend All Out is the strongest at 400 mg of caffeine per scoop, which is the whole daily amount the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) considers safe for healthy adults, so it is for experienced users only.

How much caffeine is too much?

EFSA says up to 400 mg of caffeine a day from all sources is not a safety concern for healthy adults (not pregnant), and single doses up to 200 mg are not a concern. One scoop of All Out reaches the daily figure on its own, and R1 Pre Lift comes close. Add a coffee or energy drink and you can go over without noticing. The AIS also notes caffeine has a half-life of about 5 hours, so an evening pre-workout can disrupt sleep.

    What the other ingredients do

    • Beta-alanine (3.2 g in all three): causes the harmless tingling many people feel. The ISSN notes it works by building up in muscle with daily use over weeks, not in a single dose.
    • L-citrulline: commonly used for pumps. Intake has the most at 8 g per full serve.
    • Betaine: included at 2.5 g in All Out and Intake.

    Who each one suits

Axe & Sledge Intake, $49.95: beginners to intermediate users, or anyone who wants to adjust the dose. Start with one scoop, as the label directs.

R1 Pre Lift, from $49.95: experienced caffeine users who want focus ingredients such as alpha-GPC and lion's mane in one scoop. The label also lists Huperzia serrata extract (huperzine A).

GHOST Legend All Out, from $49.95: very experienced users with a high caffeine tolerance who will skip other caffeine that day. It also contains 60 mg of bitter orange (Citrus aurantium) extract, another stimulant, so do not combine it with other stimulant products.

    FAQs

Which pre-workout has the most caffeine?

Of these three, GHOST Legend All Out has the most, at 400 mg per scoop. R1 Pre Lift has 330 mg per scoop, and Axe & Sledge Intake has 150 mg per scoop or 300 mg per two-scoop serve.

Is 400 mg of caffeine in a pre-workout safe?

EFSA considers up to 400 mg a day from all sources safe for healthy, non-pregnant adults, so 400 mg in one scoop uses up the whole day's amount. It is only for people who already tolerate high caffeine, and you should not add coffee or energy drinks. Avoid high-caffeine products if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure or anxiety, or are pregnant.

Why does pre-workout make me tingle?

The tingling comes from beta-alanine, which is in all three of these products at 3.2 g per full serve. It is harmless and usually fades within an hour. Splitting the dose or taking a smaller serve can reduce it.

Which pre-workout is best for beginners?

Axe & Sledge Intake, because one scoop gives a moderate 150 mg of caffeine and you can move to two scoops once you know how you react. The label directs new users to start with one scoop.
