What is in Intrawar 3.0
Amino acids. The 10,000 mg profile lists eight amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, valine, lysine, phenylalanine, threonine, methionine and tryptophan. MedlinePlus lists nine essential amino acids, and the one not on this panel is histidine. Leucine, isoleucine and valine are the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which add up to 5,100 mg per serve.
Be realistic about free amino acids. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) places BCAAs in Group C, where the evidence either does not support a benefit for athletes or is too limited to judge. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) says there is little evidence BCAA supplements improve endurance performance. The AIS protein fact sheet also takes a food-first approach and notes most athletes reach their daily protein targets from food. More on this in is it necessary to take BCAAs?
Electrolytes. Each serve lists 250 mg of sodium, 400 mg of potassium citrate, 250 mg of calcium and 200 mg of magnesium citrate, which add up to the 1,100 mg electrolyte formula on the tub. Potassium and magnesium are listed as citrate compounds, so the amount of each mineral itself is lower than those figures.
Electrolyte supplements are Group A in the AIS framework, for replacing fluid and electrolytes, mainly sodium and potassium, lost in sweat. For sessions over an hour, the AIS mentions a general guide of 0.5 to 0.7 g of sodium per litre of fluid. Mixed the way the Primabolics website directs (2 scoops in 400 to 500 ml), Intrawar gives roughly 0.5 to 0.6 g of sodium per litre, by our calculation. Read more in our hot weather hydration guide.
Citrulline, creatine and betaine. Each serve has 2,000 mg each of L-citrulline malate, creatine HCl and betaine. The NIH ODS says the research does not provide strong support for citrulline, and describes the betaine studies as small and conflicting. For creatine, the AIS recommends creatine monohydrate at 3 to 5 g a day, notes about 99% of the safety and efficacy research is on monohydrate, and sees no scientific reason to choose another form. If creatine is a goal, take a creatine monohydrate separately rather than relying on the creatine HCl here.
The rest. Each serve also lists 1,000 mg of D-ribose, 1,000 mg of L-ornithine, 500 mg of agmatine sulfate and B vitamins. The NIH ODS says ribose has little to no effect on exercise capacity.
Who it suits
- People doing long or sweaty sessions who want a flavoured drink with electrolytes to sip.
- Evening trainers who want an intra-workout with no caffeine listed.
- People who find plain water hard to drink during training and prefer a flavoured option.
Who should check first
- Under 15, pregnant or breastfeeding: Primabolics says it is not suitable for children under 15 or pregnant or breastfeeding women.
- Medical conditions or medication: it contains creatine and added minerals, so check with your doctor first if you have kidney problems or another condition, or take medication.
- Told to limit sodium or potassium: each serve lists 250 mg of sodium and 400 mg of potassium citrate.
- Phenylketonuria (PKU): each serve has 1,290 mg of phenylalanine, and MedlinePlus says PKU is usually managed with a diet low in phenylalanine.
- Already using a pre-workout: many contain citrulline, creatine or betaine, so add up your totals.
- Drug-tested athletes: we found no third-party certification claim on the Primabolics page. Sport Integrity Australia advises batch-tested products (HASTA or Informed Sport) and checking the batch in its app.
How to use Intrawar 3.0
The serve is 2 scoops. The Primabolics website says to mix 2 scoops with 400 to 500 ml of cold water. Some tub labels split it instead: 1 rounded scoop during exercise and another straight after, with plenty of water during your workout. Either way, that is one 2-scoop serve per session, so a 40-scoop tub covers 20 sessions.
If the directions on your tub differ, follow the tub. Intrawar is not a sole source of nutrition, so use it alongside a balanced diet and a suitable training program.
How it compares
- Legit Recovery EAA Formula: Legit says it contains all 9 essential amino acids plus electrolytes, as one scoop mixed with 300 to 500 ml of water.
- ON Micronised Creatine: if creatine is what you are after, this gives a measured 3 g serve of creatine monohydrate, the form the AIS recommends.

Primabolics Intrawar review: our verdict
Intrawar 3.0 is a well-built intra-workout drink for long, sweaty sessions. Its strongest point is hydration: sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium, with sodium in line with the AIS general guide for sessions over an hour when mixed as directed, in a caffeine-free formula with six flavours. The trade-offs: the amino profile leaves out histidine, so it is not a complete EAA, the 2,000 mg of creatine HCl is no substitute for 3 to 5 g of monohydrate, and a tub covers only 20 sessions. Buy it for hydration and a flavoured sip during training, not as a replacement for protein.
FAQs
Does Intrawar 3.0 contain caffeine?
No caffeine is listed on the panel, so it can suit evening sessions. It does contain creatine HCl, betaine and citrulline malate.
How many serves are in a tub of Intrawar 3.0?
The front label says 40 scoops and the serve is 2 scoops, so a tub gives 20 full serves. The front-label figures for amino acids, electrolytes and citrulline are per 2-scoop serve.
Is Intrawar 3.0 a complete EAA product?
It lists eight of the nine essential amino acids. Histidine is not on the panel, so if you want all nine, choose a product that lists histidine.
Can I take Intrawar 3.0 with my pre-workout?
Yes, but add up your totals. Many pre-workouts already contain citrulline, creatine or betaine, and Intrawar adds 2,000 mg of each per serve. Stay within the directions on each label.
Do I need Intrawar 3.0 if I already eat enough protein?
Not necessarily. The AIS takes a food-first approach and says most athletes reach their daily protein targets from food. Intrawar is best seen as a convenient way to get fluid, electrolytes and amino acids during long or hard sessions.
