EHP Labs Range Guide: OxyShred and Beyond

Table of Contents

The EHP Labs range at Supps247 goes well beyond OxyShred: it also covers whey protein (OxyWhey and IsoPept), creatine (CREA-8), a greens powder (OxyGreens), an electrolyte drink (Hydreau), acetyl L-carnitine and glutamine. If you only buy one EHP Labs product, make it a protein powder or the creatine, because protein and creatine have the strongest evidence behind them. This guide explains what each product is for, the key label numbers and who it suits, so you can shop the range in Australia with a clear head.

Prices are at the time of writing. Label values vary slightly between flavours, so check the panel on your tub.

    What about OxyShred?

OxyShred is the product most people know EHP Labs for, and it comes in a huge list of flavours. OxyShred and OxyShred Hardcore list caffeine and bitter orange (Citrus aurantium) extract, so read the full label first if you are sensitive to stimulants. This guide focuses on the rest of the range: protein, creatine, greens, hydration and the extras.

If you like the OxyShred taste but want to skip caffeine, OxyShred Non-Stim ($74.95) is the caffeine-free version. It is not stimulant free, though: it contains theacrine, which EHP Labs describes as a mild stimulant. Ingredient note: it also contains huperzine A, garcinia cambogia and acetyl L-carnitine. Talk to your GP before using it if you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a medical condition. A caffeine-free product will not do the work of your diet and training, so think of it as optional.

EHP Labs protein: OxyWhey vs IsoPept

Both give 25 g of protein per scoop and 25 serves per 2 lb tub. The difference is the type of whey.

    • OxyWhey Lean Whey Protein blends whey protein isolate and concentrate. Each 37 g scoop has 3 g of carbs and 2 g of fat, plus 1 billion CFU of the probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and digestive enzymes, including lactase. At about $4.00 a serve, it is the better-value EHP Labs protein.
    • IsoPept is mostly whey protein isolate (82%) with some hydrolysed whey (7%). A 32 g scoop has 2.7 g of carbs and 0.6 g of fat, with a DigeZyme enzyme blend that includes lactase. It costs about $4.60 a serve.

For building muscle, either works. The International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) says total daily protein matters most and suggests 1.4 to 2.0 g of protein per kg of body weight a day for most people who exercise. Choose OxyWhey for value, or IsoPept if you want the leanest shake or find regular whey heavy on your stomach. Isolate is lower in lactose, but neither is lactose free.

    CREA-8: EHP Labs creatine

CREA-8 is unflavoured creatine monohydrate in a 500 g tub labelled 100 servings, with no stimulants, sugar or fillers on the front label. That works out to 5 g a serve, and EHP Labs suggests an optional loading week. The ISSN position stand on creatine says 3 to 5 g a day is enough once your muscles are topped up, and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) places creatine in Group A, its top evidence tier, for repeated high-intensity efforts. Being unflavoured, it mixes into OxyWhey, water or juice.

    Greens, hydration and the extras

    OxyGreens

OxyGreens is a flavoured greens powder led by inulin (a prebiotic fibre), with organic barley grass, wheat grass, kale, spinach, spirulina and chlorella. Each 8.2 g scoop gives 2.6 g of dietary fibre and 0.9 g of sugars. It is a handy top-up, not a replacement for vegetables, and it contains wheat grass and barley grass, so check the pack if you avoid gluten.

    Hydreau Sports Hydration

Hydreau is a caffeine-free electrolyte mix. One 7.9 g scoop gives 200 mg of sodium, 80 mg of magnesium, 64 mg of potassium and 35 mg of calcium, plus 1,000 mg each of taurine, L-tyrosine and D-ribose. It suits long or sweaty sessions and hot Australian summers, at about $1.50 a serve.

    Acetyl L-Carnitine and Glutamine

Acetyl L-Carnitine gives 1 g per unflavoured scoop. The AIS carnitine fact sheet says there is little evidence that carnitine helps with fat loss and its performance benefits are uncertain. The studied approach uses L-carnitine every day for 12 weeks or more with carbohydrate meals, so a scoop now and then is unlikely to do much.

EHP Labs Glutamine is pure micronised L-glutamine, 100 servings per 500 g. A review in the Journal of Nutrition found little evidence that glutamine supplements improve exercise performance in healthy people, so it sits low on the priority list.

Which EHP Labs product should you choose?

    • Building muscle on a budget: OxyWhey plus CREA-8.
    • Cutting or sensitive to regular whey: IsoPept.
    • Long or hot sessions: Hydreau.
    • Struggling with fibre or greens: OxyGreens, alongside real vegetables.

Our pick for most people is OxyWhey with CREA-8: protein and creatine are the two products with the best evidence, and together they cover most gym goals. FAQs

What is the best EHP Labs product for building muscle?

OxyWhey or IsoPept, ideally with CREA-8 creatine. Both proteins give 25 g of protein per scoop, and protein and creatine are the two supplements with the strongest evidence for building muscle alongside training. OxyWhey costs less per serve, while IsoPept is leaner and lower in lactose. Neither replaces eating enough food overall, so use them to top up your daily protein target.

Is EHP Labs OxyWhey or IsoPept better for lactose intolerance?

IsoPept is mostly whey protein isolate, which is filtered to remove most lactose, and both products add the lactase enzyme. That helps many people who find regular whey heavy, but neither is lactose free. If you have a diagnosed lactose intolerance or a milk allergy, check the label and speak to your GP or a dietitian before choosing a whey protein.

    Does OxyShred Non-Stim contain caffeine?

No. OxyShred Non-Stim does not contain caffeine, but it does contain theacrine, which EHP Labs describes as a mild stimulant, plus huperzine A, garcinia cambogia and acetyl L-carnitine. Read the full label before use and talk to your GP if you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a medical condition. It works best as an optional extra to a calorie-controlled diet and regular training.

How do I take EHP Labs CREA-8 creatine?

The 500 g tub is labelled 100 servings, which works out to 5 g a serve, and EHP Labs suggests an optional loading week. The ISSN says 3 to 5 g of creatine monohydrate a day is enough to fill your muscle stores over about three to four weeks, so loading is optional. Take it at any time that suits you, every day, including rest days. It is unflavoured, so it mixes easily into a protein shake.
