Best Pump and Nitric Oxide Supplements in Australia

Pump and nitric oxide supplements are built around ingredients linked to nitric oxide, a molecule involved in blood flow, most often citrulline, beetroot nitrate or both. This page ranks the pump products and nitric oxide boosters that sell best at Supps247 stores and online, checks each label for citrulline, nitrate, beta-alanine and caffeine, and explains what the research supports. Looking for the best citrulline supplement or a stim-free pump to stack with your pre-workout? Start with the table. Updated October 2026.

1. AfterDark EPO Pump Pre-Workout: best overall stim-free pump

EPO Pump is our best-selling pump product by a wide margin, with roughly three times the units of the next pick over the last six months. It gives 6 g of L-citrulline per heaped scoop, double the 3 g minimum in the studies pooled by a 2019 meta-analysis, plus arginine, a little carbohydrate and focus ingredients. With no caffeine or beta-alanine on the panel, it suits evening sessions and stacks easily with a stimulant pre-workout.

  • 6,000 mg L-citrulline and 750 mg arginine per 16 g heaped scoop
  • 3,000 mg glycogen polymers (dextrose and D-ribose) and 300 mg creatine HCl
  • 1,000 mg L-tyrosine, 750 mg choline bitartrate and 100 mcg huperzine A
  • About 20 serves per tub, with no caffeine or beta-alanine on the panel

Worth knowing: The 300 mg of creatine HCl is small next to the 3 to 5 g a day the AIS describes for creatine, so take creatine separately if you use it (see our creatine picks). The label lists artificial sweeteners and colours, and we did not see a batch-testing certification.

2. Mad House Chaotic Pump: best low-caffeine pump

Chaotic Pump matches the 6 g of L-citrulline in EPO Pump in a smaller 11 g scoop and adds agmatine and alpha-GPC. Its coffee fruit extract supplies about 7 mg of caffeine per scoop, so it suits people who keep caffeine low rather than at zero.

  • 6,000 mg L-citrulline and 200 mg arginine per 11 g scoop
  • 1,500 mg agmatine sulfate and 400 mg alpha-GPC 50%
  • 100 mg CognatiQ coffee fruit extract, yielding about 7 mg caffeine
  • 100 mcg huperzine A and 200 mg Himalayan pink salt, with 20 serves per 220 g tub

Worth knowing: Formulas can differ between batches and markets, and the full ingredient list (flavours and sweeteners) is on the tub, so check the panel on the one you buy.

3. Primabolics Grind Non-Stim Pre-Workout: best all-in-one non-stim pre-workout

Grind is the pick if you want one caffeine-free product that covers the basics. A full two-scoop serve has 6 g of citrulline malate alongside 5 g of creatine monohydrate and 3.2 g of beta-alanine, so on training days it can stand in for a separate creatine.

  • 6,000 mg citrulline malate (2:1), 5,000 mg creatine monohydrate and 3,200 mg beta-alanine per 2-scoop serve
  • 500 mg potassium nitrate and 300 mg VASO6 green tea extract per 2-scoop serve, according to Primabolics
  • 40 scoops per tub, which is 20 full serves
  • No caffeine: sold as a non-stim pre-workout

Worth knowing: Citrulline malate is two parts citrulline to one part malic acid, so 6 g gives roughly 4 g of citrulline. The 3.2 g of beta-alanine makes many people tingle; the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements says this usually lasts 60 to 90 minutes and is not harmful. Primabolics now sells a V2 tub labelled HASTA certified that adds glycerol monostearate, so check which version you have.

4. BBD Pump Pre-Workout: best with added nitrates

BBD Pump pairs 6 g of L-citrulline with two nitrate salts, 2 g each of arginine nitrate and creatine nitrate, plus beta-alanine and taurine. It is labelled a non-stim powder, with no caffeine on the panel.

  • 6,000 mg L-citrulline and 3,200 mg beta-alanine per 16.75 g scoop
  • 2,000 mg arginine nitrate and 2,000 mg creatine nitrate (NO3-T)
  • 2,000 mg taurine, 300 mg pine bark extract and 300 mg vitamin C
  • 20 serves per tub, with no caffeine on the panel

Worth knowing: The label does not say how much nitrate the two salts provide, so it cannot be compared with beetroot juice research doses. Expect a tingle from the beta-alanine. The label says it is not for under-18s or anyone pregnant or nursing.

5. Zombie Labs King of Pumpz: best high-dose citrulline

King of Pumpz has the biggest citrulline dose on this page: 10 g in a full two-scoop serve, printed on the front of the tub. Australian brand Zombie Labs adds creatine, beta-alanine, betaine, agmatine and a focus blend, with zero caffeine on the label. One scoop halves every dose if you stack it with another pre-workout.

  • 10,000 mg citrulline and 3,800 mg beta-alanine per full serve (front label)
  • 5,000 mg creatine from monohydrate, nitrate and HCl, 1,500 mg betaine and 1,000 mg agmatine sulfate
  • Focus blend including 1,000 mg L-tyrosine, 400 mg alpha-GPC, L-theanine and kanna
  • Zero caffeine on the label, with 50 scoops (25 full serves) per 750 g tub

Worth knowing: The focus blend includes kanna and phenylalanine, so if you take regular medication or have phenylketonuria, check with your doctor or pharmacist before use.

6. Cyborg Sport Essentials L-Citrulline: best pure L-citrulline

A single-ingredient powder is the simplest way to get a research-sized dose of citrulline. Cyborg Sport L-Citrulline is our best-selling plain citrulline and the best value per serve on this page by a wide margin. It suits people who already like their pre-workout and just want more citrulline.

  • Single-ingredient L-citrulline powder (front of pack)
  • 500 g and 1 kg packs, listed as 100 and 200 serves, which works out to 5 g a serve
  • No flavour named on the pack, so it can go into water or your usual pre-workout drink

Worth knowing: We could only check the front of the pack for this guide, so confirm the scoop size and directions on the back panel.

7. Force Factor Total Beets: best beetroot nitrate option

Dietary nitrate, usually from beetroot juice, has stronger research support than any other ingredient on this page, and the AIS lists it in Group A. Total Beets is our best-selling beetroot product: a drink mix that pairs organic beet powder with betaine nitrate, plus a plain organic beetroot powder.

  • Drink mix: 3,000 mg organic beet powder and 2,000 mg betaine nitrate (NO3-T) per 7 g scoop
  • Drink mix: 10 Calories, 2 g carbohydrate and 340 mg potassium per scoop, sweetened with stevia, about 30 serves
  • Organic powder: organic beetroot powder, 5 g a serve, 90 serves per 450 g
  • No caffeine listed on either label

Worth knowing: Neither label states its nitrate content in millimoles or milligrams, so you cannot match it against the roughly 5 to 11 mmol (310 to 682 mg) of nitrate in the beetroot juice studies summarised by the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements. Those studies used juice taken about 2.5 to 3 hours before exercise.

How we chose

We ranked pump and nitric oxide products by units sold at Supps247 stores and online over the last six months, combined sizes of the same product and kept only products that are live online and in stock. We dropped products we could not check against a label or chose not to recommend because of an ingredient or dose concern. With seven places, we kept one each for the best-selling single-ingredient citrulline and beetroot nitrate products, so one lower-dose arginine and citrulline capsule missed out. Label facts were checked against brand labels and label images in October 2026. Value tiers come from price per full label serve at the time of writing: $ is cheaper than most picks on this page, $$ is in the middle and $$$ is premium. Doses differ a lot, so also compare grams of citrulline per serve. Brands do not pay for placement.

How to choose a pump or nitric oxide supplement

Start with the best evidence. The AIS says only a few performance supplements, including caffeine, creatine, specific buffering agents and nitrate, have good evidence of benefits. Dietary nitrate and beetroot juice sit in AIS Group A, which means strong evidence for use in specific situations in sport. Citrulline and arginine are not in Group A.

Citrulline: dose matters and the effect is small. A 2019 meta-analysis of 12 studies found a small benefit for citrulline on strength and power (an effect size of 0.20), using doses of at least 3 g taken at least 30 minutes before exercise. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements describes the evidence as limited and conflicting. If you want to try it, look for at least 3 g of citrulline per serve (citrulline malate 2:1 is about two-thirds citrulline). See every option in our L-citrulline range. Do not pay extra for arginine: the same source reports that 2 to 20 g a day has little to no effect on performance.

Beetroot and nitrate timing. The studies the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements summarises used beetroot juice supplying about 5 to 11 mmol (310 to 682 mg) of nitrate, taken about 2.5 to 3 hours before exercise. Many powders, and the nitrate salts in pump blends, do not state their nitrate content. Browse our beetroot range.

Glycerol is about hydration. The AIS lists glycerol in Group A because it can help the body hold on to fluid when training hard in the heat or when access to fluid is limited. That is the case for products such as Zombie Labs Glycerol Powder, not bigger muscle pumps.

Stim-free or stacked. Most picks have no caffeine on the label, so they suit evening sessions or stacking with a stimulant pre-workout; add up the citrulline, beta-alanine and caffeine across both labels. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements notes that 800 mg or more of beta-alanine can cause tingling that usually lasts 60 to 90 minutes and is not harmful. See our non-stim pre-workouts and pump supplements.

Safety and testing. If you take blood pressure or other regular medication, have a medical condition, are pregnant or are under 18, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using pump products. If you are drug tested, choose a batch-tested product (for example HASTA or Informed Sport certified) and check with your sport first. FAQs

What is the best citrulline supplement: L-citrulline or citrulline malate?

Either can work if the dose is right. Citrulline malate (2:1) is about two-thirds citrulline, so you need more powder to get the same amount. A 2019 meta-analysis that pooled studies using at least 3 g of citrulline found a small benefit for strength and power, and the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements still calls the evidence limited. On this page, our pick for plain L-citrulline is Cyborg Sport L-Citrulline, while EPO Pump, Chaotic Pump and BBD Pump each give 6 g of L-citrulline per scoop.

How much citrulline should I take before training?

The studies pooled in a 2019 meta-analysis used at least 3 g of citrulline, taken at least 30 minutes before exercise, and one study described by the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements used 8 g of citrulline malate an hour before bench pressing. Most pump products here give 6 g of L-citrulline per serve. Follow the directions on your label and check your pre-workout so you do not double up.

What is the best nitric oxide supplement in Australia?

The strongest evidence is for dietary nitrate, usually from beetroot juice, which the AIS lists in Group A. Studies summarised by the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements used about 5 to 11 mmol of nitrate taken 2.5 to 3 hours before exercise. Citrulline shows a small effect in research, while arginine has shown little to no effect. Among our picks, Total Beets is the beetroot option and EPO Pump is the best-selling citrulline formula.

What is the best pump supplement?

Based on what our customers buy, AfterDark EPO Pump is our top pick, with 6 g of L-citrulline and no caffeine. The right choice depends on what you want: Chaotic Pump suits low caffeine, Grind adds creatine and beta-alanine, and Cyborg Sport L-Citrulline is the budget way to add citrulline to a pre-workout you already use. Whatever you choose, check the citrulline dose on the label.

Can I take a pump supplement with my pre-workout?

Yes. Most picks here have no caffeine on the label, so they can be stacked with a stimulant pre-workout. Add up the citrulline, beta-alanine, creatine and caffeine across both labels, and stay within the directions on each. If you take blood pressure or other regular medication, have a medical condition or are under 18, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before combining products.
