FAQs

How much creatine should I take each day?

The label serve is one heaped scoop of about 5 g. The AIS creatine fact sheet describes a maintenance intake of about 3 to 5 g a day, which raises muscle creatine to saturation over about 4 weeks. Our creatine guide covers loading and timing in more detail.

Do I need a loading phase?

No. The AIS fact sheet describes loading (about 20 g a day in four doses for 5 days) as an option when a faster increase is needed. Taking 3 to 5 g a day without loading reaches the same muscle creatine levels in about 4 weeks.

Will creatine make me gain weight?

Possibly a little. Creatine increases water stored in muscle, and the AIS notes this can add up to about 1 to 2 kg of body mass while muscle creatine stays high. It returns to normal over 4 to 6 weeks after you stop.

How many serves are in the tub?

The 250 g tub lists 50 serves of about 5 g (one heaped scoop). If you take 3 g a day instead, the lower end of the AIS maintenance range, the same tub lasts around 83 days.
