FAQs
How much caffeine is in each gel?
The Berry gel has 75 mg of caffeine and the Double Espresso gel has 150 mg. For comparison, healthdirect lists a 50 mL espresso at about 145 mg. Both gels have 22 g of carbohydrate.
How many caffeine gels can I have in a day?
Count all your caffeine, including coffee and pre-workouts. The Better Health Channel says 400 mg a day or less is acceptable for the general population, and pregnant women should limit caffeine to 200 mg or less. With no other caffeine, that is five Berry gels or two Double Espresso gels.
When should I take a caffeine gel?
SiS suggests one gel about 30 minutes before intense exercise, and one or two more towards the end of a long event when fatigue sets in. Try your timing in training first. For the rest of your fuelling, see GO Isotonic Energy Gels.
Is caffeine allowed in drug-tested sport?
Caffeine is not on the WADA Prohibited List, and the Better Health Channel notes the Australian Institute of Sport lists it as a Group A supplement. Athletes who are drug tested should still choose batch-tested products, for example HASTA or Informed Sport certified, and check with their sport.
