Pre Workout Supplements: buying guide
How to choose a pre-workout
- Caffeine per serve: the most important number on the label. Many contain 150 to 300 mg or more. If you are new to pre-workout or sensitive to caffeine, start with a lower-stim formula or half a scoop.
- Stim or stim-free: train in the evening or avoid caffeine? Choose a stim-free pre-workout. Want the strongest options? See high-stim pre-workouts.
- Transparent labels: formulas that list every ingredient and dose make comparing easier than proprietary blends.
- Common ingredients: citrulline (often 6 to 8 g in a full serve), beta-alanine (which causes a harmless tingle), creatine, betaine and tyrosine.
New to pre-workout?
Start with half a serve to check your tolerance, avoid taking it late in the day, and count all the caffeine you have, including coffee and energy drinks. Our beginner's guide to pre-workout explains what each ingredient does.
Order online with Australia-wide delivery, free on orders of $100 or more, or visit a Supps247 store in Melbourne, regional Victoria or Brisbane to compare tubs in person and taste flavours before you buy. Members can use our price match guarantee on full-priced items.
Always read the label and follow the directions for use. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or take regular medication, check with your doctor first.
