    What is in Legit Edge

Legit publishes the active ingredients for one and two scoops. Here is what the main ones do, and what independent sources say about them.

    • Caffeine, about 200 mg per scoop: each scoop has 162.5 mg of caffeine anhydrous plus 50 mg of di-caffeine malate, which also supplies caffeine. Legit's own Xtreme label counts 50 mg of di-caffeine malate as 37.5 mg of caffeine, so one Edge scoop works out to about 200 mg and two scoops to about 400 mg. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) says small doses of about 2 to 3 mg per kg (around 200 mg) can improve performance, and that the benefit seems to plateau at about 3 mg per kg, or around 200 mg.
    • Beta-alanine, 1,600 mg per scoop: the body uses it to make carnosine in muscle. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) says doses of 800 mg or more can cause paraesthesia, a tingling feeling that typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes.
    • L-citrulline malate, 3,000 mg per scoop: Legit includes it for pumps. ODS says research on citrulline as a performance aid is limited and conflicting.
    • Synephrine HCl, 15 mg per scoop: synephrine is a compound found in bitter orange. NCCIH, part of the US National Institutes of Health, says some studies show bitter orange raises blood pressure and heart rate, while others do not.
    • Everything else: 200 mg of L-tyrosine, 200 mg of agmatine sulfate and 125 mg of alpha GPC, plus English walnut, juniper berry and mango leaf extracts, piperine and vitamin B12. Legit says the formula targets energy, focus, pumps and endurance. Those are the brand's claims.

    Who it suits

    • Adults who already use caffeine and want a pre-workout they can dose up or down.
    • People who train in the morning or early afternoon, well before bedtime.
    • Lifters who want caffeine, beta-alanine and citrulline in one scoop.

    Who should check first

    • Caffeine sensitivity: the label says it is not suitable for people sensitive to caffeine.
    • Under 15, pregnant or lactating: the label says it is not suitable and should only be used under medical or dietetic supervision. Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) also advises under 18s to keep caffeine to 3 mg per kg of body weight in a single serving.
    • Heart conditions, blood pressure or medication: talk to your doctor first, given the caffeine and synephrine.
    • Poor sleepers: the AIS says caffeine can affect how quickly you fall asleep and how well you sleep, even at low intakes.
    • Tree nut allergy: the label lists English walnut extract and no allergen statement is published online, so read the tub.
    • Drug-tested athletes: Legit's page does not mention third-party batch testing. Check Sport Integrity Australia guidance and the HASTA and Informed Sport databases yourself, and read our guide to supplements for drug-tested athletes.

    How to use Legit Edge

Legit's directions: mix 1 to 2 heaped scoops into 400 to 800 mL of water and drink it 15 to 30 minutes before training. Do not have more than 2 serves a day, and do not take it within a few hours of bedtime.

New to pre-workout? Start with half a scoop, which is about 100 mg of caffeine, and see how you feel. FSANZ advises healthy adults to have no more than 400 mg of caffeine a day from all sources and no more than 200 mg in a single serving, and pregnant or breastfeeding women no more than 200 mg a day. One scoop of Edge already sits at about 200 mg, and two scoops reach about 400 mg, the whole daily limit before any coffee. For most people, one scoop is the ceiling. The AIS also notes caffeine has a half-life of around 5 hours, so a late session can cut into your sleep. Read our guide to pre-workout caffeine and Australian rules.

    How it compares

    • Legit Xtreme Pre-Workout is Legit's higher-stimulant option. One serve lists 450 mg of caffeine anhydrous plus 50 mg of di-caffeine malate (37.5 mg of caffeine), with 25 serves per 525 g tub.
    • Evogen EVP-3D is stimulant-free and caffeine free, with 30 serves. Evogen notes its beta-alanine can cause tingling too.

    FAQs

How much caffeine is in Legit Edge?

About 200 mg per 8 g scoop: 162.5 mg of caffeine anhydrous plus 50 mg of di-caffeine malate, which Legit's Xtreme label counts as 37.5 mg of caffeine. Two scoops give about 400 mg.

Should I take one scoop or two?

Start with half a scoop, then one if you tolerate it. Two scoops is about 400 mg of caffeine, which is FSANZ's whole daily limit for healthy adults and double the 200 mg single-serve guide. The AIS says caffeine's benefit seems to plateau at around 200 mg anyway.

Why does Legit Edge make my skin tingle?

That is the beta-alanine. ODS says doses of 800 mg or more can cause tingling that typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes. One scoop has 1,600 mg and two scoops have 3,200 mg.

Can I take Legit Edge for an evening session?

Legit says not to take it within a few hours of bedtime, and caffeine's half-life is around 5 hours. For late training, a stim-free pre-workout is the safer choice for your sleep.

    Can women take Legit Edge?

Yes, healthy adult women can use it as directed. The label says it is not suitable for pregnant or lactating women, and FSANZ advises a limit of 200 mg of caffeine a day from all sources during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Is Legit Edge good for beginners?

It can work for beginners because the dose is easy to scale. Begin with half a scoop, count your coffee and energy drinks on the same day, and avoid it late in the day.
