What is in Legit Whey Isolate
Legit's published ingredient list is: whey protein isolate (86%) (milk, emulsifier (soy lecithin)), emulsifier (acacia gum) and thickeners (xanthan gum, guar gum). That list shows no flavours or sweeteners, so check the tub for the full ingredient list of your flavour.
Why isolate. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) explains that whey isolates cost more because of further filtration to increase the protein content. You can see that on the panel: 77.3 g of protein per 100 g, with under 1 g each of carbohydrate and fat per serve. Legit does not label it lactose free, but lactose is a milk sugar counted within carbohydrate, and the panel shows just 0.6 g of carbohydrate per serve.
Amino acids. Legit's amino acid profile lists 2,640 mg of leucine per serve. The International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) position stand on protein suggests protein doses of 20 to 40 g that provide 700 to 3,000 mg of leucine, and one 25.1 g serve sits inside both ranges.
The AIS lists isolated protein supplements in Group A as a sports food. It says they are useful after key workouts or to boost a meal that is low in protein, and that a supplement with 20 to 40 g of protein per serve meets most needs. Legit's panel recommends 1 to 2 serves a day, which lines up with the AIS advice to limit protein supplements to 1 or 2 serves daily.
Who it suits
- People who want a lean shake: under 1 g each of carbohydrate and fat per serve.
- Anyone with a one-shake-a-day routine: 28 serves lasts four weeks.
- Smoothie and oats fans: the Unflavoured option lets you add protein without changing the flavour much.
- People after a straightforward whey isolate with a short ingredient list.
Who should check first
- Milk or soy allergy: it contains milk and soy (soy lecithin).
- Lactose intolerance: it is not labelled lactose free. Start with a small serve or ask a dietitian.
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding, a medical condition or medication: check with your doctor before adding any supplement.
- Under 18: talk to a parent and a doctor or sports dietitian first.
- Drug-tested athletes: we could not find a banned-substance certification on Legit's product page. Sport Integrity Australia recommends batch-tested products if you use supplements. See our guide for drug-tested athletes.
How to use Legit Whey Isolate
Legit's directions: mix 1 scoop with 350 ml of chilled water or your favourite drink. Have it after exercise, or during the day to add protein to your diet. The panel lists a recommended daily intake of 1 to 2 serves.
For daily totals, the AIS says athletes in heavy training need 1.2 to 1.6 g of protein per kg of body weight a day, spread across meals and snacks with 15 to 30 g at each. The ISSN puts most exercising people at 1.4 to 2.0 g per kg a day. Our daily protein guide shows how to work out your own number.

Legit Whey Isolate review: our verdict
Legit Whey Isolate is a no-frills isolate that does the lean numbers well: 25.1 g of protein with under 1 g each of carbohydrate and fat per serve, and a short ingredient list. The Unflavoured option is its standout, since you can stir protein into oats or smoothies without changing the taste much. The trade-offs are a small range of four flavours, one tub size of 28 serves, and no banned-substance certification that we could find. It suits people who want a simple everyday isolate. If you want more flavours or a bigger tub, R1 Protein is the closest alternative.
