What is in Liquid Carnitine 3000
The formula is short. Per 15 mL serve, the Supplement Facts panel lists 3,000 mg of L-carnitine and 10 mg of pantothenic acid (as D-calcium pantothenate). The other ingredients are filtered water, phosphoric, citric and malic acids, natural and artificial flavours, the sweetener sucralose, and the preservatives potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate.
What carnitine does: the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) explains that carnitine helps transport long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are used for energy. Your liver, kidneys and brain make it from the amino acids lysine and methionine, and ODS says this is enough to meet the needs of healthy people. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) adds that carnitine deficiency is rare, even in vegans.
What the evidence says: ODS describes the evidence for carnitine and exercise performance as mixed, and says larger studies are needed to know whether it affects weight loss. The AIS lists L-carnitine in Group B of its framework, meaning emerging support that deserves further research, and notes there is no evidence of changes in muscle carnitine after short periods of use. Nutrex's claims about fat metabolism and endurance are the brand's own.
Side effects: ODS says doses of about 3 g a day can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea and a fishy body odour. The AIS notes L-carnitine may raise TMAO levels in the blood, which have been linked with artery plaque and a higher risk of cardiovascular events. One serve is already 3 g, so stick to the single serve on the label.
Who it suits
- Adults who want a carnitine product with no caffeine or other stimulants on the label.
- People who prefer a quick liquid serve over capsules or powder.
- Anyone already getting caffeine from coffee or a pre-workout who does not want to add more.
Who should check first
- Under 18, pregnant or nursing: the label says do not use.
- Medical conditions or medication: speak to your doctor or pharmacist first. Given the AIS note on TMAO, this includes anyone with heart disease or its risk factors.
- Sensitive stomach: ODS links doses of about 3 g a day with nausea, cramps and diarrhoea.
- Allergies: it is made in a facility that also produces products containing milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, wheat and soy.
- Drug-tested athletes: check Sport Integrity Australia guidance and the HASTA and Informed Sport databases yourself, and read our guide to supplements for drug-tested athletes.
How to use Liquid Carnitine 3000
Nutrex's label directions: shake well before opening, then take 1 serve (1 tablespoon, 15 mL) at any time of day between meals. On training days, take the serve 30 minutes before exercise. Nutrex's FAQ adds that on non-training days it can be taken on an empty stomach. Use a proper 15 mL measuring spoon so you do not go over the serve.
The AIS describes research use as 1.4 to 3 g of L-carnitine a day, split into two doses, each taken with a carbohydrate-containing meal to help uptake. That differs from the label's between-meals direction, so follow the label unless a sports dietitian advises you otherwise. Read more in our L-carnitine guide.
How it compares
- Evogen Carnigen also gives 3,000 mg per 15 mL with about 31 serves, but its label lists the carnitine as L-carnitine and acetyl L-carnitine HCl, and it is sweetened with acesulfame potassium as well as sucralose. Evogen's directions are 30 minutes before or after training.
- EHP Labs OxyShred is a caffeinated drink powder that includes acetyl L-carnitine HCl in a blend, with 60 serves per tub. Choose Liquid Carnitine 3000 if you want to avoid stimulants.

Liquid Carnitine 3000 review: our verdict
Liquid Carnitine 3000 is a simple, stimulant-free way to take carnitine, with 3,000 mg per tablespoon and seven flavours to choose from. It suits adults who want carnitine without adding caffeine on top of coffee or a pre-workout. The honest trade-off is evidence: the AIS rates L-carnitine Group B, Nutrex's fat metabolism claims are its own, and healthy bodies already make enough carnitine for normal needs. A 3 g serve can also upset some stomachs, so measure with a proper 15 mL spoon and do not go over it. Evogen Carnigen is the closest alternative.
FAQs
How much L-carnitine is in Nutrex Liquid Carnitine 3000?
Each 15 mL tablespoon gives 3,000 mg of L-carnitine plus 10 mg of vitamin B5. The bottle holds 31 serves, so it lasts about a month at one serve a day.
Does Nutrex Liquid Carnitine 3000 contain caffeine?
No caffeine or other stimulants are listed on the label, and Nutrex describes it as stimulant-free. Check the rest of your stack, though, as many fat burners and pre-workouts do contain caffeine.
When should I take liquid carnitine?
Nutrex says to take one serve between meals, or 30 minutes before exercise on training days. Shake the bottle well before you pour.
Does L-carnitine help with fat loss?
The evidence is limited. ODS says larger studies are needed to know whether carnitine affects weight loss, and the AIS lists it in Group B. Your overall diet and activity matter far more, so see our fat burner tips for the bigger picture.
Can women take Nutrex Liquid Carnitine 3000?
Yes, adult women can use it as directed. The label says not to use it if you are pregnant or nursing, or under 18.
Label details checked against the official Nutrex Research product page on 19 October 2026. Formulas can change, so always read the label on the product you buy and follow the directions.
