What is in Pyrodex Burn Powder
Caffeine (about 340 mg per scoop). The label lists 300 mg of caffeine anhydrous, plus di-caffeine malate yielding 37.5 mg and CognatiQ coffee fruit extract yielding 3 mg. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) says small doses of 2 to 3 mg per kg of body weight (about 200 mg) are effective for performance, with the benefit levelling off around there. A full scoop is well above that, and above the 200 mg single-serve limit FSANZ advises for healthy adults.
On weight, the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) says caffeine increases energy expenditure and fat oxidation, but how much that affects weight loss is less clear, and habitual use leads to tolerance.
Carnitine complex (1,000 mg) and ThermoGBB (25 mg). Pyrodex lists 500 mg of acetyl L-carnitine and 500 mg of L-carnitine fumarate. The ODS explains that carnitine helps transport long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria for energy, but says larger studies are needed to know whether carnitine supplements affect weight loss. L-tyrosine (2,000 mg) and choline bitartrate (1,000 mg). The AIS places tyrosine in Group C, meaning the evidence does not support a benefit for athletes or there is not enough research to judge.
Theobromine HCl (200 mg) and grains of paradise (10 mg, standardised to 12.5% paradol). Neither is named in the AIS Sports Supplement Framework groups, so treat any thermogenic benefits as AfterDark's claims.

Who should check first
- Under 18, pregnant or nursing: the label says not for use by anyone under 18, and not to use it if pregnant or nursing.
- Caffeine sensitivity: the label says it is not for people sensitive to caffeine, and not to consume other caffeine with it. That includes coffee, energy drinks, caffeinated pre-workouts and other fat burners.
- Medical conditions or medication: the label says not to take it if you have any medical condition or take prescription medication. Talk to your doctor.
- Sleep: the AIS notes caffeine can affect sleep even at low intakes and has a half-life of about 5 hours, so keep Pyrodex to the morning or earlier sessions.
- Allergies: it is made in a facility that produces milk and soy products.

How to use Pyrodex Burn Powder
The label directions are 1 scoop in 300 mL of water in the morning, or as a pre-workout or pre-cardio drink. AfterDark calls it a very potent product: do not exceed 1 scoop in 24 hours, and do not consume other caffeine with it.
Start with half a scoop, about 170 mg of caffeine, to check your tolerance. That is within FSANZ advice for healthy adults: no more than 200 mg of caffeine in a single serving and no more than 400 mg a day from all sources (200 mg a day if pregnant or breastfeeding, although Pyrodex is not for use in pregnancy).
