Do I need Vitamin D3?

People at risk for vitamin D insufficiency are frequently told to take vitamin D3 supplements. Depression, exhaustion, and muscle weakness are brought on by low vitamin D levels. Long-term vitamin D deficiency can cause osteoporosis in adults and rickets in youngsters, as well as weak bones.

Vitamin D, also known as the "sunshine vitamin," is created by the body when ultraviolet B sun rays interact with specific skin receptors. One in four people experience mild to severe vitamin D insufficiency as a result of sunscreen use, which impedes this process.

How Vitamin D3 works?

The amount of calcium and phosphate that you absorb from diet is influenced by vitamin D. Calcium is necessary for strong bones. Healthy bones, teeth, muscles, nerves, and fundamental biological processes all depend on phosphorus.

Two types of vitamin D supplements are available:
Ergocalciferol, a form of vitamin D2, occurs naturally in several plants.

Animals naturally synthesise vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) when their skin is exposed to sunshine.

Either form will suffice to meet your vitamin D requirements. However, doctors typically advise taking vitamin D3 supplements. Consequently, it increases the level of vitamin D in your body more than D2 is more durable in the body than D2

Supplements containing vitamin D3 are available as liquid drops, gummies, soft gel tablets, and capsules.
