Importance of Fish Oils

Omega-3 fish oil supplements, which are beneficial for both heart disease sufferers and healthy people, have gained popularity in the last ten years among many Americans.

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are both components of omega-3 fish oil (EPA). The prevention and treatment of heart disease depend on omega-3 fatty acids, which are necessary nutrients.

Findings suggest that omega-3 fatty acids may:
triglycerides are reduced by lowering blood pressure
Reduce the rate at which artery plaque forms
lessen the likelihood of an irregular heart rhythm
lowered risk of heart attack and stroke
lowering the risk of sudden cardiac death in those with heart disease

How much fish oil high in omega-3 is safe?
According to the AHA, it is safe to consume up to 3 grams of fish oil daily in supplement form. Don't take more than that without first talking to your doctor.
